She studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati with Jack Wellbaum (Flute) and Peter Kamnitzer (Chamber Music). She continued her studies with Aur\u00e8le Nicolet at the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik in Freiburg\/Breisgau Germany.<\/p>\n<p>As a solist and chamber musician, she performs regularly at festivals throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America (including the Schleswig-Holstein Music festival, the Phnom-Penh International Music Festival, the Archipel Festival Geneva, Biennale di Venezia, Warsaw Autumn, Musica Viva Munich, and Wien Modern) Carin Levine has collaborated with conductors such as Ernest Bour, Peter E\u00f6tv\u00f6s, Johannes Kalitzke, Christoph Poppen, and Lothar Zagrosek. Numerous radio and television recordings and over 40 CDs document her musical achievements. Carin Levine has premiered over 1000 works to date. Her search for new developments in music has led her to close collaborations with composers such as Violeta Dinescu, Brian Ferneyhough, Keiko Harada, Toshio Hosokawa, Liza Lim, Alvin Lucier, Younghi Pagh-Paan, and Giacinto Scelsi, who have dedicated numerous pieces to her. Of upmost importance is her close association with young composers.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching activities and master classes have taken her tom the Darmstadt Summer Courses, the Rheinsberg Music Academy, the Lower Saxony Music Academy, and to music academies worldwide. She is the editor of the series \u201eContemporary Music for the Flute\u201c published by B\u00e4renreiter where her two books \u201cThe Techniques of Flute Playing Vol. 1 and Vol.2 \u201c have also been published.<\/p>\n<p>She is artistic director of the Lower Saxony State Youth Ensemble for New Music.<br \/>\nCarin Levine has been honored with numerous awards, including the Kranichstein Music Prize for the interpretation of contemporary music. In 2019, the German Composers Association awarded her the FEM pin for her life\u2019s work. In 2022, she was appointed to the board of trustees of the Musikfonds e.V.
